J. Hirtz
After graduating from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a Bachelor's Degree in Design, Fashion and Technology, I founded a clothing brand called No Cure Apparel. At No Cure, I created waterproof hoodies for the coolest riders on Whistler and Blackcomb mountain. Before I came along, they were wearing cotton hoodies that absorbed the snow and made the rider cold, not cool.
When No Cure Apparel wasn’t garnering the success I wanted, I decided to close up shop and go back to school. I moved to Florence, Italy, and earned a Master’s in Fashion Brand Management from Polimoda. In class, we dissected the decisions luxury fashion brands made throughout their decades-long history.
Since my time at Polimoda, I’ve been a PR Manager at Gogola Agency, representing the most impressive Ukrainian fashion brands. I absorbed the values of each of the brands and would communicate these values to journalists, influencers, stylists, and collaborators.
I’ve also been working as a social media manager and copywriter on a freelance basis. My clients are emerging fashion brands that need assistance with telling their stories. My favorite part was calling the founders and finding out their raison d’etre.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, and along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to live and work in Berlin, Germany. This city ignited the artist within as I explored garment construction, hand embroidery, illustration, and event production. You can see the hand-embroidered jackets I made and the No Cure Apparel fashion show I produced on YouTube via this link.
